The Sandyford GIC is the largest gender service in Scotland. We are a multi-disciplinary team of Psychiatrists, Medical Practitioners, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapist and Counsellors. The GIC accepts referrals from a number of health board areas in relation to individuals who are experiencing some distress, discomfort or uncertainty about their gender identity. The service is located in Sandyford Sexual Health Service and forms part of the wider gender identity service, including the children’s and young person’s gender services. You will provide a specialised clinical psychology service to adult clients referred to the Sandyford gender identity clinic (GIC), providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. It is essential that you have a Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology and you should have further post-doctoral training, research and study across a range of areas, including advanced clinical skills.
