Top 10 Best Technology and Hacking Based Movies Of All Time

Technology is a very common interest everyone in the world would be interested. Technology lovers (like me) will see many tech and hacking movies. Few people who always talk about technology they should never miss the best tech and hacking based movies of all time.

I’m really inspired after watching below listed movies. You may be read many books about technology, which taught you something, but after watching below movies you will be inspired too. Few movies from the below list has shown extraordinary technologies that actually didn’t exist in our real life, but I believe “whatever we can think of, we can make it”.

Following is the best technology and hacking movies according to IMDb:

1. Inception (2010)

Inception is a very different kind of technology movie in which you will see a dream-sharing technology. The movie is about entering into the dreams of others. A professional thief and his partner specialize on stealing ideas, by entering into the mind. But the main part of the film is started when the thief and his team got a inverse task of plotting an idea into the mind of a businessman, instead of stealing any idea.

2. The Social Network (2010)

The Social Network is a movie about Facebook, and the story of Mark Zuckerberg how he creates a social network with his college roommates and a fellow friend, at the Harvard University. If you don’t know the history of Facebook, you should watch the movie to know how the world’s most popular social network was founded.

3. Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

Live Free or Die Hard, or Die Hard 4 can be a very interesting film for you if you want to see the heights of hacking. The movie is all about a young computer hacker vs an cyber-terrorist organization. Thomas Gabriel is the master of cyber crime who systematically try to take over united states through networking. It hacks and turn down FBI,  government security systems, transportation grids, stock market and the national television broadcasting.

4. The Matrix (1999)

The Matrix is one of the most popular technology movies of the 90s, in which visual effects play an important role. The movie contains more action scenes than technology and hacking, but it is one of the most rated technology movies on IMDb. The another sequel of the movie called ‘The Matrix Reloaded’ was released in 2003 and it was damn good.

5. Gamer (2009)

Gaming animations are becoming realistic in the modern era, but those are not actually real. Gamer of 2009 is the one of the best movies for video game lovers, in which you will see how video games merge in real life and control humans like a game player. A mind-control technology control the movement and action of real life humans.

6. TRON: Legacy (2010)

TRON is a movie about a computer programmer or video-game designer who got dragged in the game he’s created. In TRON: Legacy, the son of the video game creator goes to the search of this faster who got missed in the first sequel of the movie. The 2010 sequel of TRON takes the look of animations and visual effects to a whole new level.

7. Jobs (2013)

There are many books about Steve Jobs you have read, but the movie ‘Jobs’ will show you the visual story about the life of Steve Jobs and how he co-founded Apple Inc. with his friend Steve Wozniak. He was thrown out of their own company but they come back.

8. Hackers (1995)

A story of a 11-year-old boy who got arrested for crashing 1,507 computers in a single day and hack NYC stock exchange. The boy was banned from using a computer until the age of 18 and arrested by the secret service because of the computer virus he created.

9. WarGames (1983)

WarGames is a movie about a young gamer and a hacker who hacks US military supercomputers and possibly starting World War. The another sequel of the film called ‘WarGames: The Dead Code’ was released in 2008, but I through the original sequel is much better than the 2008 sequel.

10. Algorithm: The Hacker Movie (2014)

Algorithm is a story of a freelance computer hacker who cracks a secret government computer program. The movie characters are not good like the other movies and you maybe feel bored from the begging of the movie. The story is quite interesting because the topic of the movie is about Hacking. You can watch the full movie for free on YouTube.
