Google Keyword Planner
The best-known representative of the keyword tools is of course the in-house one Keyword Planner from Google Ads. It is aimed at advertisers and combines the functions of the previous keyword tool and the traffic estimator, which has also been switched off. The Keyword Planner shows the average monthly search volumes of the search terms queried, suggested bids for the ad placement on these keywords as well as related related search queries. The catch is: Since August 2018, the exact keyword data has no longer been visible to Adwords customers with low sales. Instead, the search volumes are only rough ranges from 0, 1 – 100, 100 – 1,000, 1,000 – 10,000, 10,000 – 100,000, 100,000 – 1 million,> 1 million.

Google Trends: Keeping an eye on the development of keywords
Google Trends visualizes the use of search queries in a temporal context. The results can be filtered for specific time spans, countries and categories as well as by web, news, shopping and YouTube searches. The example image shows how the search volumes for the search terms “iOS” (blue) and “Android” (red) have developed in recent years. Particularly exciting: the search for brands like Zalando or t3n as well as concrete products like iPhone or Makerbot.

Google Suggest: The most searched terms
Google Suggest (also: Google Autocomplete) provides users with the right keywords or keyword combinations as soon as they enter the first few letters in the search field. According to Google, these are the most frequently used search terms in the relevant context. Google Suggest is therefore often the first point of reference. Most of the following keyword tools also use Google Suggest as a data source.
