CENS heats Elbit Systems’ INCUBIT develops groundbreaking nanotechnology that significantly improves the performance of common batteries in electric vehicles, skimmers and solar power storage facilities. The development of CENS will allow an extension of the travel time range without adding to the cost of the battery and will shorten the charging time by tens of percent

CENS announces raising $ 1.5 million from British investor Vincent Changwiz, one of the most active foreign investors in Israel. The company was established about five years ago in INCUBIT, the technology incubator of Elbit Systems, which operates under a franchise from the Innovation Authority, and invests in deep-tech (deep technology) companies in the early stages.

CENS has developed a patented industrial process that significantly increases the energy capacity of the battery and shortens its charging time, two critical and significant elements for the automotive industry, skimmers, and any battery-powered device. CENS ‘development is based on the use of a material called CNT, nano-carbon tubes, a material whose contribution to conductivity is well known but to date has not been able to incorporate the material into batteries. CENS has developed an industrial process that integrates with existing industry and does not require infrastructure changes and leads to a dramatic improvement of tens of percent in its energy capacity, charging times, all without an increase in battery price due to the use of very small amounts, less than one percent of carbon pipes. Also, CENS technology enables the production of cobalt-free batteries, a highly polluting and expensive material.

The world has not yet switched to using electric cars, it is a race that many factors play into. The bottleneck lies in the energy capacity of the batteries and their cost. It is a strategic destination for all the significant players in this field, manufacturers of batteries, automobiles and raw materials. There are a number of technologies in use but the leading one and the most common in use is lithium ion. One of the great advantages of CENS is that it does not change existing technology. CENS technology is based on lithium-ion, so manufacturers can easily assimilate its technology. At the same time, CENS is making a breakthrough in the capacity of the battery and its price. Attempts have been made in the past, mainly in academia, to insert carbon nanotubes into batteries, but no company has been able to achieve efficient dispersion without a significant change in price.

The company’s CEO is Michael Brompman, founder and expert in nanotechnology. He said: “The investment will be used by the company to move from the development phase to the commercial infringement phase, the construction of a semi-industrial facility for the construction of battery cells in order to produce premium cells with high energy capacity and supply them to key players in the field.” He added that “CENS ‘unique technology relies on deep research and has the potential to disrupt the market and solve the bottleneck of electric vehicles and is battery performance and price.”

Vincent Changwiz said: “We believe in the critical need that CENS is meeting. If the breakthrough developed by the company allows an electric vehicle to double its range without charging, a glider to extend the flight time range, and solar power storage facilities to perform better, then this is a significant breakthrough that will advance the world in the direction of greener energy consumption.

Shuki Yehuda, Chief Technology Officer at Elbit: “CENS ‘solution is revolutionary and meets the growing demand for efficient and inexpensive electrical energy. We believe that CENS ‘breakthrough will have applications in many areas, including the security field, which is thirsty for innovative solutions in the field of energy, for example in everything related to the supply of energy to the network fighter. “
