Job Purpose To provide professional and efficient employment tax advisory services for a wide range of clients as part of a national team with focus on the London Market. Recognising employment tax opportunities with a view to winning work from both existing and potential clients. Primary responsibility will be to take control of a portfolio of clients, and support them with employment tax compliance/ risk work as well as implementation of tax effective reward structures (e.g. salary sacrifice). Job Role Responsibilities: • Responsible for supporting your clients in delivering employment tax technical advisory projects • To draft technical letters and technical reports for review • To review work produced by more junior members of staff and develop their technical knowledge and skills • Identify risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities, to the Partner/Director, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters. For Manager, there is an expectation to be market facing as convert opportunities into chargeable projects as well as technical deliver of work) • Understand and adhere to cost budgets, meet reporting timetables, prepare key client reporting documents • Ensure WIP is monitored and liaise with the job Director/Partner on client billing • Supporting bid teams in tenders for new work • Ensure professional standards are met and supervise, support and develop more junior staff • Develop professional relationships with clients and within the firm • Provide an efficient and proactive service to clients and ensure that our clients’ needs are fully met • Self-development and continuing professional education with a view to progressing within the tax practice • To support and work as a team player in achieving activities for your business area • Consult with colleagues and Partners on technical and risk matters. Person Specification You will be self-motivated, able to work to tight deadlines, have excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills together with an ability and interest in understanding each client’s business. • Employment tax experience including the following: o Conducting Employment tax risk reviews and reporting the findings o Senior Accounting Officer reviews o Know Your Client reviews o CIS, expenses and benefits, P11Ds, PSA, termination payments, employment status, are some technical areas o Implementing and advising on salary sacrifice arrangements across a number of benefits o PAYE due diligence work • CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent • Competent on routine work without generating significant Manager review points • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal • Client awareness – ability to build professional, long lasting relationships • Commercial awareness and the ability to spot cross-referral opportunities • Good interpersonal skills • Energy and enthusiasm • Strong analytical skills • Able to demonstrate the keenness to develop a career within the profession • Excellent knowledge of employment tax legislation and HMRC interpretation • Delivering Technical Excellence • Building Client Services and Client Relationships • Developing Business Diversity and Inclusion at Mazars At Mazars diversity and inclusion are central to our values.
