Humans can solve the Rubik’s cube faster, but not faster as machines, just like Lucas Etter’s 4.90 seconds world record and CUBESTORMER 3 robot solved in 3.253 seconds. But, a new world record claims on YouTube breaks all cube solving record solved in less than 1.1 seconds.
As you can watch in the video, it’s a kind of a homemade robot that made by two guys named Jay Flatland and Paul Rose. Their first test solved cube in 1.196 seconds and second test solved in 1.047 seconds. When it comes to competition like a Rubik’s cube, I thought the cube may be modified to show the world something interesting. According to the God’s number, every position of Rubik’s Cube can be solved in twenty moves or less.
The video guys use following few things in the robotics setup:
- Stepper motors
- USB webcams
- 3D printed frames
- Robot programming language
