Service Planning & Policy Development Manager – Lead Officer – Alcohol & Drugs Commission Temporary

Advert This post is internal and open to employees of Renfrewshire Council only. Based at Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley. An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the establishment and work of a new Alcohol and Drugs Commission in Renfrewshire. The Commission is supported by Renfrewshire Community Planning Partnership, the idea for which was developed during 2018. The purpose of the Commission is to assess the true impact of drug and alcohol misuse on local communities in Renfrewshire, and to make recommendations which would enable partners to support improved outcomes for these local communities. We are looking for an exceptional individual to take on the role of lead officer. A strategic thinker with vision and drive to make a difference, you must be comfortable working with elected members and senior officers within the Council and across partner agencies, with a confident and persuasive communication style. It is essential that you have significant experience in local government or a similar diverse organisation and a proven record of achievement in public policy, partnership working, strategic planning in local government or in some other relevant policy/partner background. You must also have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in public policy or strategic planning in local government. The Commission will develop it’s agenda and its programme of work will develop at pace, therefore it is essential that you have effective team building and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a complex project at pace and through strong collaboration with stakeholders. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a new and exciting initiative in Renfrewshire, which will aim to make a significant difference to local communities and people.
