Planning Officers – Development Management

Advertisement Details Shetland is an exciting and unique place to work. Whether you are an experienced planner with RTPI membership or a graduate planner, this post will provide an opportunity to work within our Development Management team – to assist in the handling of a full and varied caseload of applications. This is a challenging and varied role, with the main focus of the post being to ensure that development and changes in land use occur in suitable locations and are sustainable so Shetland can remain a beautiful and rewarding place to live. Motivated, enthusiastic and highly organized, you must also have excellent written, verbal communication and negotiation skills. You will be educated to degree level or willing to commence study to achieve an RTPI recognised qualification and be able to exercise informed judgement and work accurately and with attention to detail whilst under pressure to meet deadlines. You will have an active role in the provision of a transparent, knowledgeable and accountable service to the people of Shetland. Relevant experience in development management and planning at local authority level would be an advantage in this role.
