Manufacturing Supervisor

We are looking for a Manufacturing Supervisor to join us at our state-of-the-art facility near Bournemouth airport. You will work in our Industrial division where we design and manufacture a broad selection of joysticks, sensors and solenoids for use on commercial vehicles and industrial equipment. You will be responsible for the operation and development of our production cells and our skilled employees working in the cells. They carry out product assembly and repair and test functions to the requirements of the master production schedule, quality management system and other company imposed targets. You will support the production team to achieve the required quality standards and use of approved quality methods whilst working to standard job times. Your Challenge: Support the Production Team, to ensure their full contribution in achieving Business Unit KPI targets Provide an effective interface between Company Departments Provide a ‘visitor ready’ department utilising 5S techniques Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety requirements Be fully aware of and understand departmental, company and quality operating procedures and generate/maintain them as required Ensure personal and departmental compliance with all Quality Management System (QMS) requirements Assist in the facilitation of external and internal regulatory departmental audits Complete team and individual training/development plans to achieve a multi-skilled technician pool, ensuring staff are able to be flexible between cells and associated tasks Champion an effective capacity planning program/mechanism (in conjunction with Production Control) Plan, organise and manage resource levels required for the Product Teams to operate effectively Provide operational management and necessary support to ensure that the team can proactively plan for and manage all operational issues Provide visual measures of team performance including work in progress (WIP) Actively progress product team WIP status to achieve Master Production Schedule time scales and linear manufacturing outputs Perform quarterly performance reviews of staff against business aligned objectives and appropriate performance targets You: Relevant supervisory/management experience in electronic engineering and electrical/mechanical assembly techniques Computer literate with a comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint Comprehensive working knowledge of MRP systems and Production Control systems and Advanced Manufacturing Techniques Able to undertake all activities in a disciplined and professional manner, ensuring likewise of the team Lead the Production Team in a participative manner, promoting suggestions and ideas, involving the members of the department in appropriate decision making processes Prepare for, attend and contribute to meetings as requested, ensuring likewise of other team members Team Player with excellent interpersonal skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure Proactive, enthusiastic and highly self-motivated, able to work without supervision Flexible to meet the needs of the business, out of hours and weekend working may be required and from time to time you may be required to carry out additional duties within your capability Committed to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) This position may require exposure to information, which is subject to export control regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
