Job Details Library Volunteer Opportunities Various volunteer roles available to help your local community in Surrey libraries. About the Role Discover more than books inside Surrey libraries. Come and meet new people, develop and share skills, and join our team to help us support your local community in Surrey. Surrey County Council Library Service gives access to a wide variety of collections and resources including books and DVDs, public computers/internet access, online resources as well as providing group activities for customers of all ages. If you have time you would like to give to support your local community, we have a variety of volunteering opportunities for you, both behind scenes or customer facing. You could be helping the public use computers or smartphones as a Digital Buddy, helping kids with technology related activities as a Makerspace volunteer, or leading nursery rhyme sessions as a Rhymetime volunteer. You could choose books and read out loud in Storytimes, or encourage young people to love literature as a Childrens’ Reading Group Assistant. Our Group Facilitators co-ordinate peer groups such as Knit & Natter, or Reading Groups, or lead childrens’ activity groups. Perhaps you could help deliver books to those unable to travel, as a Library Direct volunteer? As a Stock volunteer or young volunteer (Duke of Edinburgh) you would help with aspects of our book stock processing, whilst Customer Support volunteers, and Library Guides help people get more from their library. Each role varies in the time commitment required, and where there are current vacancies. Additional Information The job advert closes at 23:59 on 31st March 2019.
