Interim Management Accountant

My client, and education provider based in the West End, is seeking an accomplished Management Accountant to join them for a period of 6 months to cover maternity. This is a great chance to join an organisation that is going through an exciting period of change. This is a challenging accounting position. Working for the Director of Finance and Resources, the post holder will be expected to take principal responsibility for the management of the day to day finance function, the production of management accounts, preparation for the annual audit and train and supervise one member of staff. In addition the person will be expected to work on their own initiative and to take responsibility for the provision of information to budget holders as well as providing information and other services as required. Duties and responsibilities: Assume responsibility for all financial processes and to lead the improvement of these systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness Supervise and develop the Finance Assistance Production of Management accounts and providing information to Budget Holders Consolidate year end accounts and prepare for annual audit Ensure debtors and creditors debt is managed and monitored efficiently Prepare creditors payment reports and upload on bank system Ensure payment of tax and NI to the HMRC. Prepare cashbook and bank reconciliations Managing accounts for both the organisation and subsidiary including accurately maintaining, nominal ledger, bank reconciliation, VAT returns along other general accounting duties general bookkeeping and assisting the FD Calculate, prepare and post monthly accruals and prepayments and monthly balance sheet Maintain Fixed Asset Register Capital expenditure records and post depreciation Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow Liaising with internal auditors and external auditors as required Responsibility for Finance Department Planning and Budgeting Maintaining reporting structure on SAGE 200 Uploading and phasing of budgets onto accounts systems The Ideal Candidate Excellent knowledge of basic accounting including double entry bookkeeping and maintaining all ledgers. Knowledge of bank reconciliation, Cashbook maintenance, accounts payable, sales ledger, nominal ledger, fixed asset register and BACS. Statutory accounts preparation Management accounts Preparation Understanding of VAT returns Understanding of budgeting SAGE 200 An ability to use spreadsheets is essential.
