Some companies have rushed ahead, many have moved in: They are deleting Facebook advertising in order to force the platform to adopt stricter rules against Hatespeech. The two t3n editors discuss this in the t3n podcast.

“Stop hate for profit” is the name of a campaign that calls for a Facebook advertising boycott. In the midst of a heated debate about racist police violence in the USA, the pressure from the public has become so great that numerous companies have joined the boycott – big brands like Coca-Cola are there as well as leading German companies like Volkswagen and SAP.

What should Facebook delete?

The editor-in-chief discusses in the t3n podcast Luca Caracciolo and online editor-in-chief Stephan Dörner the impact of the boycott on the social platform and the difficult question of who should be able to determine what is still a legitimate expression of opinion and what should delete a powerful platform like Facebook.

Is Facebook too powerful in the end and should it be split up? Can a committee independent of Facebook help? And does the debate perhaps also show that the business model of the Silicon Valley companies is reaching its limits?
