Responsibilities

What you can expect in this role:

As a Senior Executive and member of the Divisional Finance Board (DFB), the Executive Director of Philanthropy directs all major gifts, planned giving, marketing, and external relations programs in the Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Division; effectively and consistently links the Divisions and the Divisional Commander on a long term basis to the community; represents the Division territorially and nationally in development and communication matters. This position requires a significant amount of travel in Wisconsin and upper Michigan.

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business, or related degree
• 8 years successful experience leading and managing major gifts, planned giving, capital campaigns, direct mail, government and foundation grants, and advisory boards
• 5 years proven track record of success in soliciting and securing funds from individuals, corporations and foundations
• Proven successful experience in public relations and special events
• Demonstrated history as a strong relationship builder
• CFRE certification preferred but not required
• Integral knowledge and involvement with a donor/contact management system, preferably Salesforce
• Willingness to travel extensively in WI and Upper MI and have a clean driving record
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Track record of achieving goals
• Adept at developing strong relationships externally with donors, board members, advisory boards, and internally with senior level management, and internal staff from various department
• Background includes leading an integrated communications effort (i.e. direct mail and digital media)
• Strong desire to work for a Faith Based organization and the ability to verbalize a personal connection with the Mission of The Salvation Army
