Environmental Technician

Job Description You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental legislation at the council’s waste complexes. This will include developing operational procedures, work instructions and working plans. You will manage the sampling regime at the council’s Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) and report results to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, in alignment with the MRF Code of Practice. Responsibilities also include liaising with contractors for the collection of various waste streams from the Council’s household waste recycling centres. You must be intellectually flexible and be able to respond to new challenges, possess good communication skills, IT skills (Microsoft Office) and be flexible/adaptable to changing situations. An HND/HNC in waste or environmental management and a current driving licence is essential. A Degree in waste or environmental management, previous experience of waste/environmental management and a good knowledge/understanding of waste management processes are desirable.
