How To Download/Install/Update Your PC Drivers (Windows 7, 8 or 10)

A driver is a computer program that helps the operating system to communicate with attached hardware components. Some common categories of PC drivers are Graphics, Networking, Audio, Bluetooth, etc. You can download/install/update your computer drivers automatically or manually.

It doesn’t matter which version of Windows you’re using, but PC manufacturers mostly recommend a 64-bit operating system. Your CPU should be capable of running a 64-bit version of the operating system. If you want to know is your current Windows OS is a 32-bit or 64-bit, simply right-click over Computer > select Properties > read the System type.

If any attached device not working on your PC, maybe there is a driver missing or probably the hardware fault.

Install/Update drivers manually

If you have a driver installation CD/DVD (comes with computer), you can manually install drivers on your computer. Insert the CD/DVD in your computer > open Run (Ctrl+R) > type ‘devmgmt.msc’ and press the Enter key > expand a device category > right-click over a device (whose driver is missing) > select ‘Update Driver Software’ > Browser my computer for driver software > select the location of driver files.

Download/Install/Update drivers automatically

Install or update drivers automatically in Windows 7, 8 and 10: Open Run (Ctrl+R) > type ‘devmgmt.msc’ and press the Enter key > expand a device category > right-click over a device (for which you want to update drivers) > select ‘Update Driver Software’ > Search automatically for updated driver software.

Install or update drivers automatically using a software: First, check your system manufacturer and model name. Open Run (Ctrl+R) > Type ‘msinfo32’ and press the Enter key > Under System Summary, see your system model. Now you can download drivers from your manufacturer website or using a driver updater software.

Select the link of your PC manufacturer and download drivers:

FAQ

When will I need to install drivers on my PC?

When we perform a clean installation of Windows, many device drivers will be permanently deleted from the PC, such as Graphic, Audio, Wireless, and Networking drivers. You need to install drivers after every clean installation, in order to make all devices and hardware components work again.

I cannot find drivers for the version of Windows i’m using?

If you unable to find drivers from your manufacturer website, then try a driver updater software on your PC. One of my favorites is DriverIdentifier.
