Carpenter for Restorative Practice Team – BANK – Surreywide

About the Role This position is county-wide and is a bank worker post. About the Role (see job description for further details): We are looking for a qualified Carpenter who has an interest in working with young people (aged 10-17) to teach basic carpentry and health and safety skills in a workshop setting on either a one to one basis or in small groups as part of our Community Reparation scheme. The workshops are fully equipped with both static machinery such as a pillar drill, lathe, scroll saw and mortice, as well as hand-held tools. You would need to be competent at using the machinery and tools as well as having a full knowledge of health and safety in the workplace. Examples of the projects undertaken by young people within the carpentry workshop include making bird boxes, memory boxes, wooden toys and benches. You would join a team of part-time bank workers supervised by the Restorative Practice Team in Surrey Family Services. The sessions run 7 days per week so the applicant would need to be willing to work weekends as required, giving your availability to be able to work on a monthly basis. That you have direct experience of working with young people or within the criminal justice system or with community reparation schemes.
